The background goes in contrast with the foreground illu. I scanned some nice bg in fantasy book ,--repainted and restructured it in PScs3. I want to give glory on the real etchings of the subject,--thus never tried to repaint it digitally.
The original concept was for a book illustration. I did it in a 16th fld. animation paper,--and occasionally worked with it early in the morning. Its therapeutic,--until it was finished after a month. No reference was used, just enjoying the flow. I dont care if people in this part of the world had no respect in a handcrafted artworks,--I cannot suppress the sensation and excitement on untarnished drawing.
A devil that lives on the imaginations of the Bisaya. In Visayan folklore and beliefs of some,--it eats human's heart and liver. It hurried home before the sun comes out.T'was likened from wak2,tiktik and aswang. There is a story in the late 70's that the creature was caught up into a high tension live electric wire. Talks scattered that it has a body of a dog on its lower area and a human features on the upper body. it becomes a banana shacks when the sun caught it up.
